Join the September run of our Edit Your Novel course!

This 18 week online course will equip you with the structural editing techniques used by professional editors, and the confidence to submit your work to agents.

You’ll work in a small group of dedicated novelists with an expert tutor guiding you step by step through the editing process, as you hone your skills and work towards a submission package – synopsis, edited and industry formatted first 10,000 words, covering letter and a target list of agents.

On completing the course you’re invited to submit your novel to a niche go-to list of agents open to submissions from course alumni.

Entry is by application, to ensure your manuscript is at the right stage for you to get the most out of the course.

HELEN CORNER-BRYANT: YOUR EDITOR'S TOOLKIT (TALK)

Friday 9 September "Editing and pitching" - 12:00 – 1:00 PM

In the first half of this seminar, Helen will take participants on a whistle-stop tour of developmental editing techniques. You'll learn how to distinguish between flat/passive writing and active writing, which point of view is best for strengthening character, how to test the shape of your plot, and more. In five minutes, Helen will help you find out whether you've got a winning concept. The second half of the time will be reserved for a Q&A, so please do jot down any burning questions!
